Renewable diesel – the driving force of the future

Renewable diesel

The transport sector is now fundamentally changing and the demand for renewable diesel is growing rapidly. With Raw Tall Diesel, based on residual flows from the paper and pulp industry, Sunpine is enabling renewable diesel that works in today's engines and has up to 90 percent carbon dioxide reduction value. This makes the transition faster and more accessible – and reduces the world's dependence on fossil fuels.

The transport sector is entering its biggest transformation ever. From trucks and buses to jet fuel and shipping companies, more and more companies and public bodies need to reduce their carbon footprint without sacrificing availability, range or operational reliability. Renewable diesel, such as HVO100, plays a crucial role here. It can be used directly in today's vehicles and infrastructure, but has a carbon dioxide reduction value of up to 90 percent.

The need for renewable diesel is growing rapidly, driven not least by new EU directives for road traffic, aviation and the marine industry. For example, demand for renewable diesel in Europe is predicted to increase by 300 percent by 2030. And behind every liter of renewable diesel is something that is rarely seen – an advanced biofuel feedstock. That’s where Sunpine comes in.

300%

Sunpines Raw Tall Diesel has a carbon dioxide reduction value of up to 90%.

A waste product from the paper and pulp industry

We produce Raw Tall Diesel, a bio-based raw material used by leading fuel producers in Europe to create renewable diesel. Raw Tall Diesel is not made from new forest, but from residual products from the paper and pulp industry. By making use of what already exists, we extend the life cycle of the forest raw material and reduce the climate impact throughout the chain. It is a clear example of how circular industry works in practice – where each step contributes to a greater whole. When our customers further refine Raw Tall Diesel, the result is a fuel that can be used here and now, in the vehicles and machines that are already on the road. This makes the transition faster and more accessible – both for companies and society. At the same time, dependence on fossil fuels decreases and Europe becomes more self-sufficient in sustainable energy.

A climate-smart fuel

At Sunpine, we continue to develop our production and technology to increase efficiency, reduce energy consumption and further improve climate benefits. We do this in close collaboration with our customers, suppliers and partners.

Electrification will play a major role in the future of transportation. But we also know that the world needs multiple solutions at the same time. Heavy vehicles, construction machinery and long-distance transportation require fuels with high energy density and reliability – and renewable diesel is an important part of the future energy mix.

With our raw tall oil diesel as a base, we contribute to keeping society moving – with a fuel that is both reliable, climate-smart and ready for the future.

The future of energy starts here

The world needs to quickly phase out its dependence on fossil fuels in favor of more sustainable alternatives. That is the very foundation of Sunpine's business.
